Things to Consider Before You Hire

Why Are Mini Marquee Extras Important?

Mini marquees are modular by nature, meaning certain extras are essential to keep them secure, weatherproof, and looking the part. Whether you’re setting up on grass or hard standing, the right accessories—like weights, ground bars and guttering—ensure your event runs smoothly, whatever the weather.

Do I Need Floor Weights or Water Ballasts?

Yes—if your setup is on hardstanding (like paving, concrete or tarmac), anchoring your marquee is a must for safety and compliance.

  • Floor weights (13kg each) are solid, compact and provide excellent stability—two per leg are legally required.
  • 25-litre water ballasts are lighter to transport and ideal when using several gazebos at once.
Not sure what’s best? Just get in touch with your event details and we’ll recommend the right option.

What’s the Difference Between Floor Weights and 220L Water Ballasts?

The 220-litre water ballasts are primarily used for larger structures like Pagoda Marquees. They offer high-capacity anchoring without the bulk of concrete blocks, and can be fitted with PVC covers for a clean, professional finish.

When Would I Use Riser Blocks?

Riser blocks are used to raise your mini marquee or gazebo in 12cm increments, giving you that extra headroom—ideal for displays, stages or taller entrances.
Bear in mind: using risers with sidewalls can leave a gap at the bottom—fine for summer do’s, but not ideal in chillier months.

Are Slab Protectors Worth It?

Absolutely—especially if you’re setting up on decorative or sensitive surfaces like heritage paving, flagstones or public squares. Slab protectors stop slipping, protect the ground and help prevent movement during your event.

What Do Ground Bars Actually Do?

Ground bars help to strengthen the base of the structure, preventing sidewalls from flapping and making the whole marquee more rigid—particularly useful in breezy conditions or where the marquee will see a lot of footfall.

We recommend them for markets, exhibitions and outdoor functions that could be affected by wind or unpredictable weather.

Do I Need Guttering Between Marquees?

If you’re linking two or more mini marquees together, guttering is essential. It keeps rain from dripping between the joins and helps you maintain a smart, dry, connected space—ideal for food stalls, exhibitions or retail events.
