Stretch Tent Advice & FAQs
Everything You Need for a Perfect Event
What is a stretch tent?
A stretch tent is a versatile type of tent structure that is characterised by its flexible, stretchable fabric. These tents draw their design and inspiration from the traditional tents used by the Bedouin people of North Africa. All our tents are imported from South Africa (the home of stretch tents) and are manufactured by industry leaders RHI and Nomadik.
Stretch tents are technical triple-layered elasticated high-strength canvas fabrics coated in a unique flexible layer of PVC. This fabric can be tensioned over a variety of surfaces to create unique and dynamic shelter configurations. The fabric is stretched and secured using poles, ropes, and stakes to provide stability and support.
Who are stretch tents suitable for?
Our stretch tents are popular for events such as weddings, parties, festivals, and corporate functions due to their aesthetic appeal, flexibility in design, and ability to adapt to different environments and terrain. They offer a modern alternative to traditional pole or frame tents and can be customised to suit specific needs and preferences.
How much does it cost to hire a stretch tent?
The cost of hiring a stretch tent will vary depending on your unique requirements. View our sizing and pricing options here or contact us for a FREE no-obligation quote!
How does modular sizing work?
Modular sizing is available with stretch tents; they can be linked together with state-of-the-art velcro systems to make much larger structures in different shapes such as L’s, T’s and larger configurations.
Stretch Tent Set-Up Styles
When it comes to stretch tent style, the choice is yours and will often depend on the weather on the day of your event. Thankfully, your event can still stand out from others due to the flexibility of these tents and the attention to detail from our team.
Floating
Ideal on warm summer afternoons or evenings, access from all sides is possible and looks fantastic at any event. By far our favourite setup allowing the outside inside, gentle breezes flowing through the tent cool your guests giving panoramic views of your venue.
Side, or Sides Up/Down
The unique flexibility of our stretch tents means we can adapt the configuration right up to when we set up to suit any change in weather such as wind and rain. Strong winds blowing in? No problem, we peg that side down. An event in the colder months of the year? Not a problem, peg 3 sides down and supply heaters. Alternatively, we are now one of the only stretch tent companies to offer modular side walls for the 2025 season, please see the description further down the page. It’s best to have a quick chat with our expert team and we can advise on the best size to suit your event.
Things To Consider For Your Hire
On grass or hard standing such as patio or decking?
Stretch tents can be securely pitched on hard surfaces using one-tonne concrete blocks, 1,000-litre water ballasts, or threaded bar resin anchors with eye bolts. We recommend getting in touch to discuss the most suitable option for your location and needs.
Do I need a site survey for a stretch tent hire?
Potentially, this will depend on if you’re having it in an open field, a narrow or slim garden, or a unique or awkward space.
What capacity should I choose?
With so many different set-up options to choose from it can vary wildly, ideally on a warm summer evening you would have the floating canopy option i.e. All sides open, allowing 1 square metre per guest, this means for example in a 10x12m you could have 120 guests. If you’re having a party or using the tent as a dance tent then, of course, you can have up to around 200 in such a tent.
How does the hiring process work?
Browse our website and fill out our contact form. We will take your details of your event and provide you with a quote going forward.
What size stretch tent do I need?
We currently stock sand/cream-coloured stretch tents in the sizes shown here. When choosing the size tent for your event, please refer to the capacity chart shown and consider the style of set-up you like the look of. Custom sizes and colours are available on request for venues and long-term rentals, semi-permanent set-ups and venues looking to buy a tent outright.

Attention to detail
Fixtures and fittings, not content with the dull and tarnished “galvanised steel” used by many of our competitors we source our own marine grade 316 stainless steel fixtures and fittings.
Sustainable
Wooden or aluminium poles? We pride ourselves on being a sustainable local business and source our wooden chestnut poles from local Kent coppices, they are hand peeled, seasoned, sanded smooth and treated with tung oil. Finally, we wrap Hemp rope around them for ease of handling and aesthetic appeal.

Options Available
Aerospace grade (T6061) aluminium poles are used if preferred with or without poles socks to suit your event, the choice is yours.
